Summer Development Squad

This years dates: 21st June – 19th July 2010.
CUWBC Development Squad 2010 is sponsored by Grant Thornton UK LLP http://www.grant-thornton.co.uk/

Latest updates, questions and answers from the meeting here.
The CUWBC Development Squad is an intense programme run over the first four weeks of summer to introduce College rowers to top-level rowing in a relaxed environment with no commitment to trialling. It consists mostly of water outings run by our highly competent coaching team, and is a must for anyone who enjoys their College rowing and would like to take it a step further.
Who does it?
Anybody who can row, enjoys it and would like to improve their technique and fitness during the long vacation when the weather is warm and the Cam is nice and empty. We select people mainly based on potential, commitment and technical ability as judged by two trial sessions run during May Week, and anybody can apply! Sessions are compatible with jobs and PhDs: we row in the early mornings and evenings.
What does it involve?
Mainly rowing. The focus of Dev Squad is to improve technique so we spend as much time as we can on the water taking advantage of the long days and light. We also include ergs and introductions to University weights and circuit sessions. The crews travel around to various regattas around the country, including the National Championships at the end of the period. It also includes a great social side with picnics, barbecues and other events making it an excellent opportunity to meet serious rowers from across the University in a relaxed setting.
How do I sign up?
The main application deadline has still passed, but we will still consider applications from talented rowers and coxes, again by email. Dev Squad places will be confirmed at the beginning of Bumps week at the latest. If you have any questions or would like to apply even though you missed the deadline, email Lizzie (president@cuwbc.org).
