Alumni

We would firstly like thank every single old girl (or boy) who has supported the club in the past, be it with gifts of time, expertise, contacts or indeed cash. We extend a particular thanks to all those of you currently providing some form of support.

The CUWBC Alumni Association exists to help the CUW girls in whatever way it can. The average triallist faces costs of around £1000 so we look to ensure they get the best possible value for money. In recent years we have provided money for blades, a launch engine and also helped subsidise training camps. Bearing in mind the student loan is around £4000pa, the triallists are making a huge financial commitment. We hope our support ensures the very best people row in the Boat Race, irrespective of their financial situation.

Every term we send you an e-mail newsletter. If you don’t receive this, please e-mail Jennifer Hawton and let her know your details so we can stay in touch. We always like to keep you informed of where your money is going. Around February time we also send you a whole bundle of information in the post (invitation to the Boat Races etc.). If you didn’t get this last year, again please contact Jennifer Hawton, and we will put you on the list.

How can you help?

Even small gifts add up to make a HUGE difference. If every old girl/boy currently on our database could give £25 a year (one coffee in Starbucks per month) we could give the girls £10,000 every year, and help to put CUWBC back on track to beating Oxford.

If you would like to take out a standing order please contact Jennifer Hawton or fill in the online form here.

However, it isn’t just money that we are after! If you have any contacts, can provide practical help to the squad/ Association, or think your company might be interested in seeing their name in lights (or on kit, boats or blades), please contact the President. We would also be very interested in any stories or photos of your CUW experiences for the new history section of our website – please do get in touch.
